Technology is a tool which developed from human’s understanding of the nature and invention.

Human’s thought can be project into things they make, and these things affects them too, both physically and mentally.

What is technology?

When technology is an attribute to objects,

how does the relation between human and object change?

Does it make us feel distanced about these objects or does it reduce the differences?

Prototype 1

Here is a prototype of a trash can that opens whenever it detects a smile.

After showing this prototype, some people think it’s okay to smile to the trash can and some feel it is uncomfortable since the smile is not genuine enough.
This two completely different mindset toward "smart object" is interesting to me, and I believe our attitude toward "smart object" will affect how people design them.
